Though I don't waste water on our lawn, I am keeping my potted plants watered. But they look kind of odd surrounded a brown yard-
You'd think with the drought all the stuff that fills the air with pollen would be dead, but unlucky for me they seem to be thriving and we have been having a long period of time with very high pollen counts. And with no rain to settle the pollen and dust, people with allergies are miserable this year. I've been hiding in the house for days, but just the brief periods of time I spend out with the dogs on their potty breaks is enough to make my sinuses throb, ears stop up, a cough and sore throat. I've tried every OTC allergy med on the market, but they are just no match for this year's pollen levels. Between feeling crappy and being shut up in the house, I am in quite a pissy mood lately. And it doesn't help that we are getting estimates this week on having our floors replaced. Though I will be glad to have it done, the thought of having work crews in the house, plus all the dust and mess, makes me want to rip my hair out and scream. This house has been a thorn in my side ever since we moved in here. As most of you know, there isn't much I hate more than renovating and I have resented every minute we have lived in this place. Okay- enough bitching and whining-LOL...I am donating a bust I sculpted to a breast cancer auction in July. I did this bust several years ago (she is in my header) and she has been sitting in my studio. I was looking her over and noticed uneven spots on her neck and one on her back. So of course I couldn't leave it alone - ha! I have sanded her from the head down and am now adding more clay, and will then repaint her. She looks quite odd now with her hair wrapped up in plastic wrap to keep it out of the way.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're battling dreaded allergies...how frustrating. Blocked sinuses are so painful so you have my sympathy. I know drought very well though we had a lot of rain a few months ago that they were classifying as a drought-breaker because it put our catchment dams up to 50%....not sure if it's official though. When it's not raining here, our lawns become like straw.
As for the floors being replaced, I know exactly what you mean. One of those jobs you desperately want done but the upheaval is another story.....a love-hate relationship. Hopefully, the job will be done well and quickly so that the inconvenience is minimal...yeah right, who am I kidding?! lol Floors are a pretty big reno. Well, at least you will be able to appreciate the new floors and then, you will look back and feel like it was all worthwhile.
As for the bust...you already know I think she's GORGEOUS! I LOVE the jewellery you made!! I think you will miss her when she's gone.
Feel better soon ~ (((Hugs)))
Linda, wish you feel better with those allergies, I know how do you feel. I can share some rains we have here...I do not think you want cold though...
You did a wonderful, wonderful necklace, I would wear one like that :) and it should look gogeous on her.
I would give anything to be able to send some of our rain your way Linda - I hope the pollen count goes down soon! That sculpt is beyond gorgeous and I love love LOVE her jewelry! I would totally wear it myself.
So sad, wish you would get a real rain dump, hope your allergies clear up soon, I have winter allergies myself and they let up in the spring. Well your scilpt, necklace and earrings are all fabulous!
You poor thing with those allergies :( We have had a drought in Australia for years now and it was soooo annoying but luckily we just had the best rain season in decades and the drought may be over soon or at least some restrictions are being lifted. I hope you get some rain soon or at least the pollen settles down.
I love your doll and the jewellery you made is gorgeouse. I would wear them myself :)
*sends rain your way* I really hope your allergies let up. they can be so hard to deal with :/ and bitch away, its one of the main functions of a blog lol
that necklace is gorgeous :D
Our yards look the same. Supposed to get rain tomorrow. Yippee! The necklace is just beautiful!
Well, we had a few nice days...then the temperature plummeted...and then it rained, hailed and in the middle of it... thunder and lightning. ... dandy..
Tomorrow ws supposed to be the first day of golfing with my old guys...and it is now down to only 1 degree. There could be more snow by morning...arrrgghhhh.... where's my spring??.. okay..too late for that already......now where the hell is my summer then?
Poor you with allergies... and now more renos?...NOOOOOOOOOOO ..... oh, m an...I feel for you. and...as you know I DO know exactly how you feel and how much you have been through...I send hugs ...
If I lived closer you could run away from home for a few weeks and bunk in with us. Then...in July when we start some more...I could run away from here and bunk at your house.
love your bust...(the doll that is!)hahahha... and her jewellery is pretty amazing..
Hope the drought ends soon and your allergies too. Just as soon as spring starts I get the allergies then it all subsides. For me I think I know one of the tree that sheds tons of stuff during spring is the culprit. Worst place to be is in London and I was there last week sneezing coughing and painting away lol!
You know how I love your sculpts but your jewellry too is beautiful.
As for renovation oh I can relate to that totally. I went through it for 6 months and it was agony. Hope yours doesn't take that long.
That bust you are donating is beautiful! Such a warm chocolaty color...and the jewelry goes great.
Sorry to hear about those allergies and the drought...we are really in a bad one out here too...I'm sure our county will soon go to water rationing..
Your bust sculpture is Beautiful!
The necklace turned out grand. I am sure it will look wonderful on her. I wouldn't mind wearing one like that too! :)
Hope your allergies are under control.
Linda, your new necklace for the sculpt is beautiful! That'll work great with that piece. Hope you start feeling better soon...:)
