It's the simple things...

Why do we put off doing the simple things that bring us joy? We live a mere 10-15 minutes (in the off season) from the beach, but too often don't stop and take the time to drive out there. There is no where in the world I would rather be than on the Island but too often go months without walking barefoot on the beach, gathering treasures the tide have left behind. So we have set aside Wed. evenings as our time to do something fun. Last night was our second Wed. fun evening. Yesterday afternoon I caught myself starting to make excuses to myself why I should skip it- my allergies were acting up, I wanted to work on a sculpt, and Isabella needed a bath. Why in the world was I thinking up ways to sabotage an evening on the beach? Well, life is too short and the future too uncertain to put off doing something I enjoy. No one knows how many more Wednesdays we have, and we can't afford to throw any of them away. Sooooo.... to the Island we went...

Just look at all that blue...

My guy...my love... be still my heart...

And the sun began her nightly descent, her color building as she dropped toward the horizon...

And her last flash of color before darkness fell...

And did our fun end then? Oh no! We became greedy and wanted even more.
So we stopped for humongous ice cream cones!

I urge you all to set aside a few hours every week and make a commitment to do something that brings you joy. It could be something as simple as sitting outside reading something just for fun, go for a walk, or go out to dinner. Just do it!
Peace-
Linda Fleming

Oh Linda I wish I was close to something as beautiful as that beach. I would go everyday. Ofcourse on needs to have the right company otherwise how can we share and enjoy it all. Do you get to pick lovely shells? I love shells and am always look out for them whenever I get a chance to go to the beach.

Absolutely!!.. and, especially for those of you lucky enough to live near water.....the best relaxation in the world.... especially if you find an uninhabited section of sand..... ahhhh...such perfect pleasure.......

we don't have any lovely beaches.... but, we do enjoy sitting out on the patio...or even going for walks around our neighbourhood... it isn't too busy with walkers... so we just do it for fresh air, exercise and because it is so easy to talk while walking. We have lots of good conversations while walking....

all of your sea shots are beautiful..... I get to pretend I have an ocean view...living vicariously through you....

Great ocean photos, just beautiful. That's a good idea and actually we do it quite often, probably way too much, ha! We should be home doing "chores" or something but then it's where can we go to avoid that and get out and have fun. Good for you setting aside that time.
