Spring on the Beach and Copper/Turquoise Seahorse

After sleeping in late Sat. morning, I got up to gloomy skies, cloudy with light rain off and on throughout the day. Not that I am complaining, lordy knows we need the rain. In fact, I wish we'd had a soaking rain all day long, but the heavier rain went just south of us. Feeling restless and bored, I wandered into the studio and put the final touches of the second spring themed card for the swap we are having in our little sculpting group. This one has a flair of SW Florida springtime, which means beach time! The sky and water are mulberry papers, the sun is copper, the sand is tinted sand textured stuff, the palm tree trunk is Apoxie Sculpt, and the fronds are beads. I also added shells from the huge collection of shells we have gathered over the last few years.

After finishing the card, I decided since the weather was blah to spend the rest of day in the studio. I put on some music and started working on a new seahorse. I was anxious to use some of the copper beads I had recently bought, and mixed in some glass turquoise colored beads. I got busy making the armature and began beading. Time passed so fast, the next thing I knew the pizza guy was ringing the doorbell to deliver the pizza that Mike had ordered for supper. But after eating a piece of pizza I was back in the studio, anxious to finish the seahorse. I was so tickled to get him done tonight. I love the look of the copper beads with the glass turquoise beads! I used copper end caps for his eyes with a turquoise bead in the middle, and then hung him on copper chain.

Tomorrow I hope to work on sculpting a large frog doorstop. Hopefully all the photos I posted tonight will enlarge to full size when you click them, but with Blogger you never know-LOL!

Thank you for all the comments left and e-mails sent regarding the formation of the new mixed medium group. I will let you all know when and if I get it going.
I hope you are all spending your weekend doing some you love and enjoy!
Peace-
Linda

Linda, the larger gold beads look like so many golden bubbles on her...I think she looks very feminine anyway....and, she is lovely.

But Linda I wanted to say that this work of yours is so beautiful. I love the feel of ocean that the collage has . You have created a very beautiful piece, and ofcourse your critter is as always beautiful. The muse has certainly returned.
